Iligan’s rich Tri-People heritage reimaged through dance, music, visual arts, and powerful performances as the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) and HULMA-Iligan presented Diyandi sa Sinulog and Lantaw sa Iligan 4 celebrating the Diyandi Festival last February 25 at the City Plaza.

IPAG gathered artists and creative groups in a colorful celebration of the stories, traditions, and cultures that continue to shape Iligan’s identity.

Featured were performances from Haring Gangis, Himig Piglas, Tukar sa Bayug, Kapangintaw, Aspire GC, Street Movers, MSU-IIT Orions, Street Movers JV, Hype It Up, and more.

After another immersive experience with IPAG’s Diyandi sa Sinulog and HULMA’s Lantaw 4, guests gathered for post-performance meet-up with the company, among them Councilor Michelle Sweet, instrumental for our forward-looking plans for the City Culture-Arts and Tourism plans and the city’s culturati.

In the audience, too, were faculty and researchers of the University of Sto. Tomas Educational Technology Center led by the Acting Director of the Center, Prof. April Joy Macalisang-Gascon. (Earlier in the day, the group conducted a national symposium on Alternative Pathways in Graduate Teacher Education held at MSU IIT.)

Iligan’s bid for a UNESCO CREATIVE CITY has become even stronger —- Iliganon lore transcreated to the contemporary stage to ensure wider dynamic cultural interaction.
