Agyu’s community resists the tyranny of the Sultan of Maguindanao who for generations have been under the Sultanate’s mercy. An angry KUYASU (Agyu’s nephew) spears the Sultan dead instigating war. Maguindanaon warriors pursue AGYU, and turmoil blankets his people. The diwatas empower MUNGAN, Kuyasu’s mother who is too sick to evacuate, to lead the exodus to Nilandangan, their paradise, via the magical boat Sarimbar.
